The Story of Terrae Minerals

The birth of the company:

Terrae Minéraux officially came into being in September 2025, but the idea of creating an online store focused on minerals had been brewing for several months, even over a year.

Passionate about minerals since childhood, I started collecting all the "pebbles" I found at a very young age. Later, I was given some quartz from the Vosges (I was in primary school), and also some fluorite – not the most beautiful, but already incredible for a child who knew nothing about them and had never seen such pretty stones.

Then I bought my first stones in a shop in the center of Gérardmer, a peaceful and beautiful spot in the Vosges: Agate, amethyst, calcite, and some other minerals with which I started a beautiful collection that continues to grow today (despite the constant lack of space...).

A few years later, I discovered SMAM (Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines), where the "Mineral & Gem" show takes place once a year. It's one of the largest events in the world (the 2nd largest, if I'm not mistaken), bringing together over 1000 exhibitors from around the globe to sell and display their stones, minerals, jewelry, fossils, and other natural wonders. Created in 1962, they celebrated their 60th edition in 2025, and I was, of course, there, but as a passionate visitor.

Some of my first minerals (starting from top left): Labradorite, Tiger's Eye with Bull's Eye, rough and polished amethysts, a Vanadinite from Morocco, some calcites of various colors, and a rock crystal (quartz) point.

Who develops and manages Terrae Minéraux and your orders?

Being an independent entrepreneur for several years, I taught myself on the job through hours of videos and articles. Today, I manage everything alone, and even though it takes a huge amount of time every day, from Monday to Sunday, as they say, when you love what you do, you don't count the hours!

Here's a summary of the many things that need to be done alone:

  • Finding a website name and logo to start
  • The entire creation, management, and customization of the website
  • Taking photos and videos of the minerals and editing them so they look as true to life as possible
  • Listing items for sale
  • Processing orders, responding to emails, preparing, and shipping orders
  • Invoicing, accounting, and quarterly declarations
  • Posts, information, and promotions on social media
  • and certainly others...

Of course, I also have to search for "raw materials," meaning minerals from all over the world, negotiating the best possible terms with trusted suppliers, prospectors, and crystalliers to offer you beautiful, quality stones at the best prices, while also considering the ethical aspect of sourcing them (intensive mining or logging, dangerous working conditions without protection, and even worse in some countries).
