Vanadinite, with its hexagonal crystal system, is a mineral species composed of lead chlorovanadate, a mixture of lead, vanadium, oxygen, and chlorine. Vanadinite forms in the oxidation zone of lead deposits when vanadium-rich fluids react with pre-existing minerals. It is used in industry to harden steel. Formed from often bright and well-defined hexagonal crystals, vanadinite is mainly found associated with barite, calcite, cerussite, mimetite, and other iron oxides.
Vanadinite Characteristics:
- Length: 1.8cm
- Width: 1.4cm
- Height: 1.4cm
- Weight: 7g
- Vanadinite Hardness: 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale
- Vanadinite Density: Between 6.8 and 7g/cm³
- Vanadinite belongs to the hexagonal crystal system
Vanadinite Appearance:
If you like small, high-quality minerals, here is a lovely cluster of reddish-brown hexagonal vanadinite crystals. Formed by approximately 6 originally shaped crystals, this vanadinite will undoubtedly find a small place among your other little treasures.
⚠ As a lead-rich mineral, it should be handled with care! Avoid prolonged contact with water or your mouth, do not put your nose close to the stone to avoid inhaling dust, and do not touch it too much without gloves.
Note: Special care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. Photos and videos are taken in the best conditions and slightly retouched to be as close as possible to the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to your different screens and their brightness, especially with vanadinites whose admired color varies depending on the light to which they are exposed.
