If you are looking for a rare and unusual mineral to add to your collection and join your other wonders, here is our selection of botryoidal or grape chalcedony, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it is not an agate at all!).

Originating from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is made up of quartz crystallites that strangely resemble a bunch of grapes. Primarily purple with some light to very dark shades for the rarest ones, white, gray, or green botryoidal chalcedony can also be found.

Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:

  • Length: 3.3cm
  • Width: 2.4cm
  • Height: 1.4cm
  • Weight: 5g
  • Chalcedony hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
  • Variety of microcrystalline quartz chalcedony

Aspects of grape chalcedony:

Here's another unique chalcedony from Indonesia! Discover our botryoidal chalcedony, formed partly by stacked grape-like clusters, primarily in a flax-gray color, and partly by light purple quartz microcrystals. In the sun, this raw stone is certainly the most sparkling one presented in the shop. If you are looking for small pieces for your collection, our botryoidal chalcedony is definitely what you need, both for its beauty and its price.

Note: Special care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. Photos are taken in the best conditions, and slightly retouched to best resemble the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to the different screens used and their brightness.
