If you are looking for a rare and unusual mineral to add to your collection and join your other wonders, here is our selection of botryoidal or grape chalcedony, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it is not an agate at all!).

Hailing from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is made up of quartz crystallites that strangely resemble a bunch of grapes. Primarily purple with some light to very dark shades for the rarest, white, gray, or green botryoidal chalcedony can also be found.

Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:

  • Length: 2.6cm
  • Width: 2.3cm
  • Height: 1.9cm
  • Weight: 9g
  • Chalcedony hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
  • Variety of microcrystalline quartz chalcedony

Aspects of grape chalcedony:

Composed of grape-like grains up to 6mm in diameter for some, here is a pretty 9g botryoidal chalcedony of a lovely Parma violet color with mostly rounded and sparkling crystals. The only downside is that there are a few broken grape-like grains in several places, hence its small price, which still makes it a beautiful stone to add to your collection.

Note: Particular care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. Photos are taken in the best conditions and slightly retouched to be as close as possible to the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to your different screens and their brightness.
