If you are looking for a rare and unusual mineral to add to your collection and join your other wonders, here is our selection of botryoidal or grape chalcedony, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it's not an agate at all!).

Hailing from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is made of quartz crystallites that strangely resemble a bunch of grapes. Primarily purple with some light to very dark shades for the rarest ones, white, grey, or green botryoidal chalcedony can also be found.

Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:

  • Length: 4.2cm
  • Width: 2.5cm
  • Height: 1.5cm
  • Weight: 8g
  • Chalcedony hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
  • Variety of chalcedony in microcrystalline quartz form

Aspects of grape chalcedony:

This chalcedony from Indonesia is, for me, a very interesting mineralogical piece. Formed by a "bed" of purple botryoidal chalcedony with a natural arrangement of grains up to 3mm, you will find a rare formation on top of it with "grape-like" growths, as if placed on top, in a lovely green, 3mm to 4mm in size. A quality raw stone to add to your mineral collection if you don't yet have botryoidal chalcedony. A display stand will be offered with our stone.

Note: Particular care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. Photos are taken in the best conditions and slightly retouched to best resemble the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to the different screens you use and their brightness.
