If you are looking for a rare and unusual mineral to add to your collection and join your other wonders, here is our selection of botryoidal or grape chalcedony, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it is not an agate at all!).
Originating from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is formed of quartz crystallites strangely resembling a bunch of grapes. Primarily purple with some light to very dark shades for the rarest ones, white, gray, or green botryoidal chalcedony can also be found.
Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:
- Length: 3.1cm
- Width: 3cm
- Height: 1.9cm
- Weight: 14g
- Chalcedony hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
- Variety of chalcedony in microcrystalline quartz form
Aspects of grape chalcedony:
Here is a rare and completely sparkling collector's item offered by Terrae Minéraux! Discover a sublime botryoidal or grape chalcedony formed on one side of many brilliant Parma violet-colored grains with a superposition of a few light beige grains on top. And on the back of the mineral, a microcrystalline quartz formation of even more sparkling light beige. It will be perfect to add to your collection if you are looking for a rare and small piece for your collection because, as we know, sooner or later we run out of space and the large pieces are removed one by one. A translucent base will be offered to you in the package so that you can place your chalcedony in the position of your choice.
Note: Particular care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. Photos are taken in the best conditions, and slightly retouched to best resemble the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to the different screens used and their luminosity.
