If you're looking for a rare and unique mineral to add to your collection and join your other wonders, here's our selection of botryoidal or grape chalcedonies, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it's not an agate at all!).
Originating from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is formed from quartz crystallites that strangely resemble a bunch of grapes. Primarily purple in color with some light to very dark shades for the rarest ones, white, grey, or green botryoidal chalcedony can also be found.
Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:
- Length: 6.1cm
- Width: 5.1cm
- Height: 2.8cm
- Weight: 48g
- Chalcedony hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
- Variety of microcrystalline quartz chalcedony
Aspects of grape chalcedony:
Here's a raw stone that traveled over 11,000 km to be presented to you! Discover our beautiful purple botryoidal chalcedony directly from Indonesia. It is formed of rounded, grape-like quartz microcrystals present over most of the stone, averaging 2mm in diameter. On the back of the chalcedony, you will find clusters of green crystals formed in a cluster, looking as if they had been placed on top. A display stand will be offered with your stone so you can carefully place it among your other collection crystals, or in a place of your choice if you simply wish to admire it.
Note: Particular care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. Photos are taken under the best conditions and slightly retouched to best match the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to the different screens you use and their brightness.
