If you are looking for a rare and unusual mineral to add to your collection and join your other wonders, here is our selection of botryoidal or grape chalcedony, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it is not an agate at all!).
Hailing from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is made up of quartz crystallites that strangely resemble a bunch of grapes. Primarily purple with some light to very dark shades for the rarest, white, gray, or green botryoidal chalcedony can also be found.
Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:
- Length: 3cm
- Width: 1.9cm
- Height: 1.9cm
- Weight: 5g
- Chalcedony hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
- Variety of microcrystalline quartz chalcedony
Aspects of grape chalcedony:
Small in size, but great in quality, here is one of our smallest botryoidal grape chalcedonies with an original and pleasant shape, and a very beautiful purple color. Formed by numerous rounded microcrystals, it's a piece to add to your collection if you don't have much space left or primarily collect small rough stones.
Note: Particular care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. Photos are taken under the best conditions, and slightly retouched to best resemble the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to the different screens used and their brightness.
