If you are looking for a rare and unusual mineral to add to your collection and join your other wonders, here is our selection of botryoidal or grape chalcedony, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it is not an agate at all!).
Originating from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is formed of quartz crystallites strangely resembling a bunch of grapes. Primarily purple with some light to very dark shades for the rarest ones, white, gray, or green botryoidal chalcedony can also be found.
Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:
- Length: 7.5cm
- Width: 4.8cm
- Height: 2.3cm
- Weight: 52g
- Chalcedony hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
- Variety of microcrystalline quartz chalcedony
Aspects of grape chalcedony:
A unique piece found in 2022 on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia, this chalcedony traveled more than 11,000 km for Terrae Minéraux to offer it to you. Discover our superb 52g botryoidal chalcedony encrusted with hundreds of microcrystals in the original shape of a bunch of grapes assembled to form the chalcedony. In terms of color, you will find a lovely purple in the center of the stone surrounded by green quartz microcrystals. The few white spots present have not been identified. To display it wherever you wish, a translucent base will be offered to you with the shipment.
Note: Particular care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. Photos are taken in the best conditions, and slightly retouched to best approximate the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to your different screens and their brightness.
