If you are looking for a rare and unusual mineral to add to your collection and join your other wonders, here is our selection of botryoidal chalcedony or grape chalcedony, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it is not an agate at all!).
Originating from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is formed of quartz crystallites strangely resembling a bunch of grapes. Mainly purple with some light to very dark shades for the rarest, white, gray or green botryoidal chalcedony is also found.
Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:
- Length: 3.5cm
- Width: 2.8cm
- Height: 1.8cm
- Weight: 12g
- Chalcedony hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
- Variety of chalcedony in the form of microcrystalline quartz
Aspects of grape chalcedony:
For people who want to find a unique stone to add to their mineral collection, here is our purple botryoidal chalcedony formed of rounded crystals averaging 4mm, present all around the stone. The base for displaying your stone is, of course, offered free with purchase.
Note: Particular care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. The photos are taken in the best conditions, and slightly retouched to best resemble the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to the different screens used and their brightness.
