If you are looking for a rare and unusual mineral to add to your collection and join your other wonders, here is our selection of botryoidal or grape chalcedony, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it is not an agate at all!).
Originating from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is formed of quartz crystallites strangely resembling a bunch of grapes. Mainly purple with some light to very dark shades for the rarest ones, white, gray, or green botryoidal chalcedony is also found.
Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:
- Length: 3.4cm
- Width: 2.9cm
- Height: 2cm
- Weight: 13g
- Chalcedony hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
- Variety of chalcedony in the form of microcrystalline quartz
Aspects of grape chalcedony:
If you are looking for an exceptional and small piece for your collection, Terrae Minéraux presents its beautiful botryoidal chalcedony, more than 90% covered with grape-shaped crystals of a beautiful Parma violet, rather light and with an average diameter of 3mm. Despite some broken crystals, our botryoidal chalcedony will find its place in your home as a rare mineral. It also allows light to pass through with backlighting. Flat on the bottom, you can place it with perfect balance wherever you want and on whichever side you prefer. A display stand will be delivered with your stone.
Note: Particular care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. Photos are taken in the best conditions, and slightly retouched to best resemble the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to the different screens used and their brightness.
