If you are looking for a rare and unusual mineral to add to your collection and join your other wonders, here is our selection of botryoidal or grape chalcedony, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it is not an agate at all!).

Originating from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is formed of quartz crystallites that strangely resemble a bunch of grapes. Mainly purple with some light to very dark shades for the rarest ones, white, gray, or green botryoidal chalcedony is also found.

Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:

  • Length: 4.8cm
  • Width: 3cm
  • Height: 1.9cm
  • Weight: 25g
  • Chalcedony hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
  • Variety of chalcedony in microcrystalline quartz form

Aspects of grape chalcedony:

Here is our beautiful 25g purple grape chalcedony formed of quartz crystallites with a botryoidal morphology over a large part, meaning covered with crystals strangely resembling a bunch of grapes. With a pretty sparkling lavender hue, it becomes slightly lighter in sunlight. It is obviously delivered with its display stand so that you can place it wherever you want and in the best conditions.

Note: Particular care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. The photos are taken in the best conditions and slightly retouched to best resemble the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to the different screens used and their brightness.
