If you are looking for a rare and unusual mineral to add to your collection and join your other wonders, here is our selection of botryoidal or grape chalcedony, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it is not an agate at all!).

Hailing from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is formed of quartz crystallites that strangely resemble a bunch of grapes. Mainly purple in color with some light to very dark shades for the rarest ones, white, grey, or green botryoidal chalcedony can also be found.

Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:

  • Length: 6.2cm
  • Width: 3.3cm
  • Height: 2.4cm
  • Weight: 29g
  • Chalcedony hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
  • Variety of microcrystalline quartz chalcedony

Aspects of grape chalcedony:

Original and rarely seen on the market, here is a botryoidal chalcedony of a wisteria purple, meaning a light purple, and formed of rounded crystals of large sizes, up to 7mm to 8mm in diameter for the largest ones. You will be able to admire a slight, rare and appreciable shine over a large part of the stone's surface. A piece that will find its place in your mineral collection, and you can also place it on the display stand provided with it.

Note: Particular care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. Photos are taken under the best conditions, and slightly retouched to get as close as possible to the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to your different screens used and their brightness.
