If you are looking for a rare and unusual mineral to add to your collection and join your other marvels, here is our selection of botryoidal chalcedonies or grape chalcedonies, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it is not an agate at all!).
Originating from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is formed of quartz crystallites that strangely resemble a bunch of grapes. Mainly purple with some light to very dark shades for the rarest ones, white, gray or green botryoidal chalcedony is also found.
Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:
- Length: 3cm
- Width: 2.1cm
- Height: 2cm
- Weight: 10g
- Chalcedony hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
- Variety of microcrystalline quartz chalcedony
Aspects of grape chalcedony:
Formed of grape-like grains up to 4mm in diameter for some, here is a very beautiful 10g botryoidal chalcedony of a lovely purple with rounded crystals close to perfection. A stand will be included in the shipment with your stone so you can display it as you wish in your mineral collection.
Note: Special care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered. Photos are taken in the best conditions, and slightly retouched to be as close as possible to the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to your different screens used and their brightness.
