If you are looking for a rare and unusual mineral to add to your collection and join your other wonders, here is our selection of botryoidal or grape chalcedony, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it is not an agate at all!).
Originating from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is formed of quartz crystallites strangely resembling a bunch of grapes. Mainly purple with some light to very dark shades for the rarest ones, white, gray, or green botryoidal chalcedony can also be found.
Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:
- Length: 6.2cm
- Width: 4.7cm
- Height: 1.8cm
- Weight: 40g
- Hardness of chalcedony: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
- Variety of chalcedony in the form of microcrystalline quartz
Appearance of grape chalcedony:
Directly from Indonesia (a journey of more than 11000 km!) discover our beautiful 40g botryoidal chalcedony formed almost entirely of grape clusters. Its color is nuanced throughout the stone, starting with a beautiful and deep purple, and ending with a very light purple, close to white. Its purple part allows light to pass through with backlighting so you can appreciate its brighter color. A suitable display stand will be delivered with our stone.
Note: Particular care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. Photos are taken in the best conditions, and slightly retouched to best resemble the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to the different screens used and their brightness.
