If you are looking for a rare and unusual mineral to add to your collection and join your other wonders, here is our selection of botryoidal or grape chalcedony, mistakenly called grape agate (no, it is not an agate at all!).

Originating from the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, botryoidal chalcedony is made up of quartz crystallites that strangely resemble a bunch of grapes. Mainly purple in color with some light to very dark shades for the rarest, white, gray or green botryoidal chalcedony is also found.

Characteristics of botryoidal chalcedony:

  • Length: 5.4cm
  • Width: 4cm
  • Height: 1.7cm
  • Weight: 23g
  • Chalcedony hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
  • Variety of chalcedony in the form of microcrystalline quartz

Aspects of grape chalcedony:

A very aesthetic and original piece, discover our grape chalcedony with a mainly flat and sparkling surface. Small botryoidal crystals from 2mm to 3mm are present all over the stone, as if they were "placed" on it. By also letting light pass through with backlighting, you can also discover an orange heart. A truly rare and quality piece that will only increase the value of your mineral collection.

Note: Particular care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. The photos are taken in the best conditions, and slightly retouched to best resemble the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to the different screens used and their brightness.
