Vanadinite, with a hexagonal crystal system, is a mineral species composed of lead chlorovanadate, a mixture of lead, vanadium, oxygen, and chlorine. Vanadinite forms in the oxidation zone of lead deposits when vanadium-rich fluids react with existing minerals. It is used in industry to harden steel. Formed of often bright and well-defined hexagonal crystals, vanadinite can primarily be found associated with barite, calcite, cerussite, mimetite, and other iron oxides.
Characteristics of vanadinite:
- Length: 7.9cm
- Width: 4.4cm
- Height: 3.5cm
- Weight: 95g
- Hardness of vanadinite: 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale
- Density of vanadinite: Between 6.8 and 7g/cm³
- Vanadinite belongs to the hexagonal crystal system
Aspects of vanadinite:
Hailing from Mibladen, a rural commune located in the province of Midelt, Morocco, and known for its diverse local mineralogy, discover our vanadinite, mainly composed of a light brown rock where sublime reddish vanadinite crystals have literally "grown" over time across its entire front. If you like original, rare, and reasonably priced stones for your collection, this vanadinite is perfect for you.
⚠ A lead-rich mineral, it remains a stone to be handled with caution! Avoid prolonged contact with water or the mouth, do not put your nose close to the stone to avoid inhaling dust, or touch it too much without gloves.
Note: Special care has been taken to best respect the natural colors of the minerals offered to you. Photos and videos are taken in the best conditions and slightly retouched to best approximate the original stone. However, there may be slight contrasts due to your different screens and their brightness, especially with vanadinites whose admired color varies depending on the light to which they are exposed.
